I think I suffered from too high expectations with this book. EVERBODY told me how great it was, how wonderful. So I read it. Meh. I liked it okay, but it really didn't strike me as special, groundbreaking, or different in any way. Yup, it stinks to be 12, we all remember that. Yeah, having family problems stink too. My parents divorced when I was 11, so that should have hit me more.
I'm not sure exactly what I expected from this boom, but I expected more.
